Donation Funds

Beth El accepts gifts which honor and memorialize friends and family, as well as gifts in celebration of special occasions to any of the funds listed below. A card of acknowledgment bearing the donor’s name is sent to the person or family being honored, one who is ill, or to the family of the bereaved. Contributions are acknowledged through the Beth El Bulletin and all contributions are tax-deductible. Except where noted the minimum contribution for all donations is $10.

 Congregational Funds

  • Synagogue Fund: Helps defray operating costs. 
  • Floral Fund: Provides flowers for the pulpit, for Shabbat, a special event, or a memorial for $36.
  • Knitzvah Fund: Supports a group who knit and crochet shawls and lap blankets to distribute to members of the Jewish and general community. 
  • Kiddush Fund: Allows for enhanced Shabbat Kiddush and lunches throughout the year as well as enhanced Onegs on Friday nights following services.
  • Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund: Provides special funds for confidential giving and organizational requests.
  • Cantor's Discretionary Fund: Provides special funds for confidential giving and organizational requests
  • Edward Schneider Education Fund: Helps defray the expenses of Beth El Center for Jewish Learning.    

 Special Gift Funds

  • Edward Abramson Memorial Fund: Synagogue projects, Torah covers
  • Lisa Botnick Memorial Fund: Restricted
  • Max M. Federhar Memorial Fund: Helps to defray the costs of synagogue special projects
  • Gress Torah Fund: Torah repair
  • Aaron Kranitz Memorial Fund: Helps to defray the costs of synagogue special projects
  • Eleanor and Jerry Lippman Bar/Bat Mitzvah Book Fund: Purchases books presented to a student upon his or her Bar/Bat Mitzvah    
  • Luck Holocaust: Academy trips to the Holocaust Museum in Washington DC
  • Alexander and Lillian Medoff Memorial Music Fund: Sponsors concerts and musical performances at the Synagogue
  • Saferstein Caring Fund: Used to support individuals, their caregivers, & their families
  • Beatrice & Morris Sarlson & Family Beautification Fund: The fund will be used for whatever is needed to enhance the enjoyment of Beth El events. For example: beautiful flower arrangements, fine kosher chocolates, fine kosherwines, kosher gourmet food and decorations.
     

 Education Funds

  • Beth El Foundation for Jewish Education: Scholarships for higher Jewish Education
  • Irving Botnick Education Fund: Adult education programs
  • Kloner Family Fund: Jewish education
  • Hakoah Education: Education programming for children, families, and adults
  • Jacob Reich Memorial Fund: Beth El Hebrew Academy school education

 Scholarship Funds
  Proceeds from the following funds assist learners of all ages—from youth to adult          members. 

  • Lenore Gordon Scholarship Fund
  • Stephen M. Gross Memorial Fund: Youth work and camp scholarships          
  • Louis Lockshin Scholarship Fund
  • Marks and Goldfarb Youth Fund: Youth commission/development
  • Lola Salzman Scholarship Fund
  • Reverend Phillip Salzman Scholarship Fund          
  • Frieda Weinberger Memorial Fund: Camp scholarships
  • Simon Kopleson Memorial Scholarship Fund: Israel trips for youth
  • Max & Regina Schneier Memorial Fund: Support studies to become a Rabbi or teacher in Hebrew college
